The Junky's Christmas

For those of you that have been dwelling on how 'shit christmas was this year'... William S. Burroughs (author of naked lunch & the junky), narrates the animated tale of Danny the Carwiper, who spends Christmas Day trying to score a fix, but finds the Christmas spirit instead. Maybe you should give it a go next year.

New Bands Able To Use Abbey Road Studio

The legendary Abbey Road studios are to offer the mastering facilities that the likes of and The Last Shadow Puppets have used to new bands via the internet.

The studio, famous for recording seminal albums by the likes of The Beatles and Pink Floyd, have launched an online mastering service which will allow new acts to submit their recordings via a secure server.

Engineers at Abbey Road will then mix the tracks using the studio's mastering suites.

”It’s easy for new bands to undervalue the importance of quality mastering, but it really is the final stage of the recording process and getting it right makes a huge impact to the sound of your recordings," Alex Wharton, Mastering Engineer at Abbey Road, told NME.COM.

"Abbey Road's been responsible for mastering some of music industry's most influential albums but in addition to Pink Floyd and The Beatles, we've also worked with new talent like Babyshambles, The Last Shadow Puppets and Lightspeed Champion, and we're so excited to be able to offer this same level of quality to the young bands out there that could be the bands to watch in the future."

Man sought prostitute for son, 14

A father who asked an undercover police officer posing as a prostitute to take his 14-year-old son's virginity has been given a suspended prison sentence.

The man from Bulwell, Nottingham, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was given a 10-month suspended jail term.

Nottingham Crown Court heard the man, 42, had approached the undercover policewoman in the Mapperley area in July believing her to be a prostitute.

He admitted trying to solicit a woman to have sex with a child.

The court heard the father was arrested during an undercover operation by the city's vice squad.

The man drove up to the undercover officer and asked her how much she would charge for sex with his son, who was sitting next to him in the car.

Judge Jonathan Teare said he was not sending the father to prison because of his previous excellent character and that he believed he did not mean any harm to his son.

He said: "What you were doing that night was to expose your 14-year-old son to a prostitute because you didn't know she was a police officer.

"You have a duty of care to your son and that is to look after his moral welfare not, as you might think, to break him into the ways of sex through a prostitute."
The father's barrister Matthew Smith said: "There is a thorough sense of shame the defendant feels.

"It's completely at odds with every other part of his character."
Mr Smith added that the boy would be allowed to continue to live with his father.
The defendant will be placed on the sex offenders register for five years.

Skinner Goes Twitter

So Mr Skinner has released his second tune via twitter, after quoting last week "I am going to tweet 3 new songs this week. I can’t be bothered with all this trying to sell you music. It wastes valuable time"... It goes to show that the honesty of times having changed with record sales is out in the open with artists, and Skinner is clearly adapting to it. Anyway, I was gonna post this when the third song was released but I'm bored waiting to go to work. I'm not overly keen on 'I love my phone' but 'Trust me' is by far better than any song on 'Everything is borrowed'. His lyric style has staggered back to the days of original pirate material, and with an epic orchestra sample inbetween each verse. TOP tune.

UPDATE: Just released: 'David Hassles'

BIG CHIMPIN'

So crack and pound notes isn't on the agenda down at the chimp brothels these days...

Chimpanzees enter into "deals" whereby they exchange meat for sex, according to researchers.

Male chimps that are willing to share the proceeds of their hunting expeditions mate twice as often as their more selfish counterparts.

This is a long-term exchange, so males continue to share their catch with females when they are not fertile, copulating with them when they are.

Awaydays

I know what your probably thinking...'christ, not another football hooligan film'. But Awaydays really does look like its one to blog about. Focusing not just on the violence...but the sex, music and fashion aswell. The trailer definitely looks like it's gonna be a gooden, although I'm not too sure how keen I am on listening to a bunch of gobby scousers rant shit for 105mins. It's out in May this year, but if anyone finds a leak beforehand let me know. On a more stupid note......'Green Street 2'....is that a joke?

The Dead Weather

Jack White of The White Stripes has started ANOTHER band... Although to be fair if something decent (other than this tune) comes out of this band, its probably for the best, as I thought The Raconteurs were pretty kack. The band has brought together Alison Mosshart (double smash) of The Kills, Raconteurs bassist Jack Lawrence, and Queens Of The Stone Age guitarist Dean Fertitta...It's almost as if they're trying for some sort of 'supergroup'. The single 'Hang you from the heavens' has the moody, distorted blues timbre sound you'd expect from these artists, but Mosshart's voice just spells sexy slut. Bit of a 'try2be edgy' video but its pretty sick.

Liam Gallaghers 'Pretty Green Clothing'

Well to be honest I'm suprised this day hasn't come sooner than it has. Liam Gallagher has started his own clothing range called 'Pretty Green'. Most likely taken from The Jam tune. He says "Clothes and music are my passion. I'm not here to rip anyone off and I'm not doing it for the money either. I'm doing it cuz there's a lack of stuff out there of the things I would wear". I'm really not lookin forward to the amount of cheesy wankers, ranting on about this when it comes out and starts getting alot more publicity. I for one will definitely not be wearing any of it, however I'm sure a number of people in my 'friendship group' will be. Seriously, being a 'top music artist' and releasing your own clothing range, spells sell out. I think he needs to put his feet up at call it a day. You can even email the big dog himself and ask him a question about fashion via the website www.prettygreen.com.

Cocker

Saw this interview on culturecritic.co.uk. Nice little interview with Jarvis Cocker, talking about Sheffield, Paris and Song writing. Haven't heard much from the old cock-cock lately, and it's a pretty interesting chingwag. Also found this series called 'songbook' revealing the secrets and stories behind some of my favourite tunes. Each song discussed is played on acoustic by Jarvis, everyone sounding lovely jubbly. You can watch part 1 above, and there's another 8 to watch you can find on youtube. Seriously though...look how little views they've got, what are all you fanatic pulp fans doing?

Phonesex

Phillip Toledano is a photographer I saw in Hotshoe a couple of years ago. I recently picked up on one of his more recent projects titled 'Phonesex'. Now I'm not really the type to ring up 'sex lines' (at least for a few years) but from what you see on the TV I always get the image of them being really fit, in a really clean environment.
Toledano goes into the live's of the people that work in this industry. Invading their privacy and finding out why they do the job they do. It's a really bizarre subject, and when the photo's are read with text, they're like short stories. The images also appear to be quite glossy/editorial. I'm unsure as to why he's done this, but it's definitley a different approach that works well with documentary photography. Click here to view the rest of the series with text/

Barbour Outwear Spring 2009

Although my bunse is mainly going out of my pocket for things i dont even wanna pay for, and the likely hood of me buying a jacket for the summer is very little. Having a ganders and the new range for spring is always a good wind up. My fave from the lot is the new international. Click here to have a peek at the rest.

Good Girl Gone Bad

So when you think of a squeaky clean, nice bit of totty. Natalie Portman is definitley on the list. You'll know her from playing Padame Amidala in the more recent starwars films. Click the link to realise what a 10 she really is. Basically take her then corrupt her with malevolent badboy ways until she ends up foul mouthed and able to throw a load of filth out of your speakers. Whilst it's all a bit of a piss take...I can't get my head round whether she's more sexy this way or not? Uncensored Version (Audio only)

Bukowski Artwork

While not generally remembered for his artistic skills, Bukowski was capable of producing some surprisingly good paintings. Of course he was primarily a writer, not a painter. There's a few strong paintings whilst the majority of them are just jokes.

He produced literally hundreds of these paintings. Most of them painted on 6 X 9 inch paper with thick layers of acrylics, oil paint, watercolors, pastels, crayons, pens - whatever was at hand. They were sent to Black Sparrow (Publisher) where they were bound into special hardcover first editions of his books.

"The difference between life and art, is art is more bearable" - Bukowski.

The Armando Iannucci Shows

So I'm currently in the process of getting through a series of sketch shows that were aired on channel 4 in 2001. If you don't recognise the name you'll probably know him from writing 'I'm Alan Partridge' and 'The thick of it'. I've only watched the first three episodes, but so far they're pretty fucking good, with alot of heavy hearted humour. Each episode is set with a 'rough theme' with a surreal narrative throughout. The series is noted for its CGI and realistic violence. You'll recognise some of the dialogue sampled in rusko's 'cockney thug' tune. I haven't been able to find any episodes on youtube so far, but there's a few torrents/rapidshare downloads about, or just buy the fucking thing. Here's a couple of clips though if your not really 'down with downloads'.

New approach to music video

Apart from being one of the best tunes on the album...This video for Radiohead's 'House of cards' demonstrates a potential turning point in music video, which i can imagine becoming quite popular with with half the shit in the current electronic scene trying to be alternative. The video was made with no cameras or lights. Instead, 3D plotting technologies collected information about the shapes and relative distances of objects. The video was created entirely with visualizations of that data. Edgy fucking shit.

Summer Clobber

The 2008 Raf Simons and Fred Perry collab went down pretty well in the on the streets. I wasn't really up for forking out the bunse and I wasn't too keen on much of it. But the 2009 range looks very suave. Couldn't be bothered to flood this lame blog with more 'garment pics' just yet, so I've just put a couple of my faves up. you can check the rest on highsnobiety. As the loafers....well, its gotta be red.

Adidolls

Never really been a big fan of 'windbreakers' but Adidas and Mama Anders have collab'd up to produce these nifty bits of kit made from recycled, re-used plastic.. garnered from sex dolls. No joke. Well, I guess it's kind of a joke from their side...or at least a cheeky dash of tongue-in-cheek humour.
Mama Anders says "These dolls are so ugly and vulgar that turning them into something beautiful has become a challenge for me. The doll is a means to convey something else."
I'm defintley lookin forward to seeing some pretentious wanker wearing one of these, not knowing theres been some sweaty old cock in their hood lol'z.

MEAT. IS. MURDER.

Tremayne Durham, 33, has been preparing to go on trial for murder after killing a man who backed out of a deal to sell him an ice cream truck and did not return his money. After 2 years waiting for his court date he got tired of the jail food and said he would make a plea deal resulting in 30 years if he got a feast to go out with. He didn't even get a fucking zinger...what a loser.

JAYDIOHEAD

DJ Minty Fresh (whoever that is) definitley stayed away from a coupla cheeky tequilas whilst producing this bag of tip-top remixes. Its a free download you can get here. Although being a fan of radiohead (or jay-z) will make you appreciate alot more (which most of you should be), it's still worth a listen. Favorite choon has gotta be 'Dirt off your android'.
